Artist Bio

Laura Feldman is a community activist, organizer/educator and poet living in Portland, OR.  She is the author of three poetry chapbooks:  Café Songs (Apetulous Press, 1984, San Francisco) and Prosthetic Landscapes (Full Deck, 2002, Portland) and hearing Hanford (nine muses press, 2010, Portland).  As a student of PSU’s Leadership for Sustainability Education graduate program she focused on “Sustainable Activism:  The Hanford Nuclear Reservation.”   This past summer she began leading the Columbia Riverwalk, an educational pilgrimage from Portland to the Hanford Reach.  She and a member of the Portland Harbor Community Advisory Group recently received a grant to implement “The Willamette Speaks:  An Oral History,” as a way of involving North Portland residents in guardianship of the river and educating them about the current Portland Harbor Superfund cleanup.
